Anthony Richardson shines in Colts' preseason win over Eagles

The Indianapolis Colts ended their preseason with a 27-13 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, thanks to a stellar performance by rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Richardson, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, played the entire first half and led the Colts on three scoring drives, including two touchdowns. He completed 6 of 17 passes for 78 yards and added 38 yards on five carries with his legs. He also taunted the Eagles fans with their own “Fly, Eagles, Fly” celebration after a touchdown run by Deon Jackson.

The Florida product showed off his athletic potential and his ability to escape pressure and make plays on the run. He also avoided any turnovers, which was a concern for him coming out of college and in his first preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, when he threw an interception.

Richardson has already been named the Colts’ starting quarterback for the 2023 season, and he will look to build on his impressive preseason finale when he faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.
