Chelsea cruise to 3-0 win over Luton Town

Chelsea secured their first victory of the Premier League season with a comfortable 3-0 win over newly promoted Luton Town at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a brilliant solo run and finish, leaving several Luton defenders in his wake. The England winger was a constant threat for the hosts, who dominated possession and created numerous chances.

Luton, who had their home game against Burnley postponed last week due to stadium issues, struggled to cope with Chelsea’s intensity and quality. The visitors rarely threatened Edouard Mendy’s goal and were lucky not to concede more.

Chelsea doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Hakim Ziyech curled in a superb free kick from the edge of the box. The Moroccan playmaker, who joined from Ajax this summer, showed his class and creativity throughout the game.

The Blues wrapped up the win in the 76th minute when Timo Werner tapped in from close range after a fine cross from Ben Chilwell. The German striker, who also arrived from RB Leipzig this summer, scored his first Premier League goal and looked lively alongside Sterling and Ziyech.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with his team’s performance and praised their competitiveness and clarity. He also said he was not worried about the transfer market and was focused on improving his squad.

Luton boss Nathan Jones admitted his side were outclassed by Chelsea and said they needed to learn from their mistakes. He also said he was hopeful that their stadium situation would be resolved soon and that they could play at Kenilworth Road next month.

Chelsea moved up to ninth in the table with four points from three games, while Luton remained in 17th place with zero points from two games.
