Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin Holds Above $25,000; Ethereum Gains; Polygon and Polkadot Fall

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, was back in green on Tuesday as it gained more than 2% and moved above $25,500-mark. The crypto token had dropped below $25,000 on Monday amid a broader market sell-off.

Ethereum, the second-largest crypto asset, also recovered some of its losses and gained about 1% but remained below $1,700-levels. The smart contract platform had fallen more than 5% on Monday and slipped below $1,650.

Among other major cryptocurrencies, Polygon and Polkadot were the biggest losers as they fell 5% each. Polygon, a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum, was trading at $0.17 while Polkadot, a multi-chain network, was at $7.81.

On the other hand, Crypto.com and Algorand were among the top gainers as they rose 5.8% and 4.2% respectively. Crypto.com, a payment platform, was at $0.05 while Algorand, a proof-of-stake blockchain, was at $0.12.

The total market cap of all cryptocurrencies was at $1.02 trillion, up 1.3% from Monday. The crypto market has been under pressure in recent weeks due to regulatory uncertainty, environmental concerns and hacking incidents.

However, some analysts remain optimistic about the long-term prospects of crypto assets as they see them as a hedge against inflation and currency devaluation. They also expect more institutional adoption and innovation in the crypto space.
