Gal Gadot is one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, but she revealed that she was not interested in playing Barbie in the upcoming live-action movie based on the iconic doll.
In an exclusive interview with ET at Netflix’ Tudum Fan Event in Brazil, Gadot said that she was approached by Margot Robbie, who is producing and starring as Barbie, to join the project.
"She did call me and she did ask me if I wanted to be a part of it and I was very flattered," Gadot said. "But I felt like it wasn’t the right thing for me."
Gadot explained that she wanted to focus on other roles that were more challenging and diverse.

Gadot has been busy with several projects, including the Netflix thriller Red Notice, co-starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, which premieres on Nov. 12. She is also set to reprise her role as Wonder Woman in the third installment of the DC franchise, which she will also co-produce.

Robbie will also serve as a co-writer on the script, along with Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, who are also directing and producing the film.
Robbie has said that she wants to make a movie that celebrates Barbie’s legacy and empowers young girls.
"Barbie comes with a lot of baggage! And a lot of nostalgic connections," Robbie told British Vogue in 2019. "But with that come a lot of exciting ways to attack it. People generally hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t…"
