Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s wedding in 2000 was one of the most anticipated celebrity events of the year. The couple, who had been dating since 1998, tied the knot in a star-studded but very private ceremony in Malibu, California.
Now, 23 years later, actor and comedian Michael Rapaport has revealed some new details about the extravagant nuptials, which he attended as a friend of both Pitt and Aniston. Rapaport worked with Pitt on crime movie True Romance in 1993 and acted alongside Aniston in four episodes of Friends in 1999.
On a Monday episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Rapaport said that the wedding featured a “wall of caviar” that he still remembers fondly. “I was at Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s wedding, they had a wall of caviar, I still have some saved over,” he said, adding that he was “still eating the caviar from that.”
Rapaport also mentioned that legendary musician Billy Preston performed at the reception. “Lot of bucks there,” he said of the lavish affair.
Pitt and Aniston’s wedding reportedly cost $1 million and was attended by about 200 guests, including celebrities like Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz and Edward Norton. The couple exchanged vows under a canopy of white roses and tulips, and had a fireworks display at the end of the night.
Pitt and Aniston divorced in 2005, after Pitt fell in love with Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Both Pitt and Aniston have since remarried and separated again (Pitt to Jolie in 2014 and Aniston to Justin Theroux in 2015). The exes have remained cordial friends over the years, and have even reunited for some public events, such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2020 and a virtual table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High in September 2020.
In June 2021, Aniston told Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show that she and Pitt were “buddies” and “friends.” “It was absolutely fun,” she said of the Fast Times event, according to People. “Brad and I are buddies, we’re friends.”
