If you are a fan of Disneyland and its collectibles, you might be interested in a rare opportunity to own some of the park’s memorabilia. A passionate collector has brought the magic of Disneyland to a sprawling 30,000-square-foot building in Burbank, California, where fans can preview more than 1,500 items up for auction later this month.
The collection includes original props, costumes, posters, signs, ride vehicles and more from Disneyland’s history. Some of the highlights are a Dumbo car from the Fantasyland ride, a trash bin from Tomorrowland, a pirate skeleton from Pirates of the Caribbean and a Haunted Mansion stretching portrait.
The collector, Richard Kraft, said he started collecting Disneyland items as a way to cope with his childhood trauma and his son’s autism. He said he wanted to share his collection with other fans and raise money for two charities that support children with special needs.
The auction, called “That’s From Disneyland!”, will take place on July 27 and 28 at the Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks, California. Fans can also bid online at www.thatsfromdisneyland.com. The preview exhibition is open to the public until July 26.
If you can’t make it to the auction or the exhibition, you can still enjoy some of the magic of Disneyland from your home. Here are some ways to recreate the Disneyland experience without leaving your couch:
- Watch videos of your favorite rides on YouTube. You can find videos of almost every ride at Disneyland, from classics like Space Mountain and It’s a Small World to newer attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Avengers Campus. Some videos even have 360-degree views that let you look around as if you were there.
- Listen to the music and sounds of Disneyland on Spotify or Apple Music. You can find playlists of the songs and soundtracks that play throughout the park, such as Main Street U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland and more. You can also listen to the music from the parades, fireworks and shows.
- Make some of the iconic Disneyland snacks at home. You can find recipes for some of the park’s most popular treats online, such as churros, Mickey-shaped pretzels, Dole Whip and Monte Cristo sandwiches. You can also order some of the official merchandise from shopDisney.com, such as popcorn buckets, mugs and ears.
Whether you are a die-hard fan or a casual visitor, Disneyland has something for everyone. And even if you can’t visit the park in person right now, you can still enjoy some of its magic from your home.
