Illness forces Bruce Springsteen to postpone Philadelphia concerts

Bruce Springsteen has postponed two of his concerts with the E Street Band in Philadelphia this week due to an unspecified illness, his team announced on Wednesday.

The “Born to Run” singer was scheduled to perform at Citizens Bank Park on August 16 and 18, but both shows have been delayed. “We are working on rescheduling the dates so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled shows,” the statement read.

Springsteen, 73, and his band have been touring since February, with several dates added in 18 North American cities. The tour has also faced some cancellations due to COVID-19, in Ohio and Connecticut. Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, also missed the inaugural American Music Honors in April because of the pandemic.

The next concert on the tour is set for August 24 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Springsteen will end the month playing in his home state of New Jersey. The tour is expected to wrap up in December in San Francisco.
