No winner for Mega Millions drawing, jackpot rises to $480 million

The Mega Millions lottery game has reached its 14th largest jackpot in history, as no tickets matched all six numbers in the Friday night drawing. The estimated prize for the next drawing on Tuesday is $480 million, with a cash option of $240.7 million.

The winning numbers for Friday were 8, 10, 17, 55 and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball 3. The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 302.6 million, according to Mega Millions.

There were some smaller prizes won by nearly 1.2 million tickets across all tiers. One ticket sold in California matched the five white balls and won $2 million, while 28 tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000 each.

The last time the Mega Millions jackpot was won was on April 18 in New York, when a ticket holder claimed $20 million. This year, there have been six jackpot winners so far, including a record-breaking $1.348 billion prize won by a single ticket in Maine on Jan. 13.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
