Soap Opera Icon Andrea Evans Dies of Breast Cancer at 66

Andrea Evans, a veteran actress who starred in several popular soap operas, has passed away at the age of 66 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Evans was best known for playing the scheming Tina Lord on One Life to Live, a role she originated in 1979 and reprised several times until 2011. She also appeared on The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and Passions, earning two Daytime Emmy nominations for her work.

Evans died on Sunday at her home in Pasadena, California, surrounded by her family, her representative Nick Leicht confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday.

“She was such a tremendous talent and an absolute joy to work with,” Leicht said in a statement.

Evans made her television debut in 1978 in the NBC miniseries The Awakening Land. She also had roles in primetime shows such as Circus of the Stars and Hollywood Squares. Most recently, she played Patty Walker on the Amazon Prime series The Bay from 2017 to 2020.

Evans faced a terrifying ordeal in 1990 when a stalker threatened her life and forced her to leave One Life to Live. The stalker, a Russian man who wrote death threats to Evans in blood, was not arrested because there were no stalking laws at the time. Evans later helped raise awareness and advocate for better stalking laws.

Evans was also working on her memoir, titled My One Life to Live, which is expected to be published soon.

Evans is survived by her husband Steve, daughter Kylie and dog Mila.
